Manny Pacquiao and Errol Spence Jr. Formally Announce Megafight

The legendary Manny Pacquiao and Unified World Welterweight Champion Errol Spence Jr. officially kicked off their fight promotion with a press conference presented by FOX Sports: Premier Boxing Champions. The cordial meeting between both fighters gave fans the opportunity to see where both fighters were at mentally and how they felt heading into their upcoming clash on August 21st on FOX Sports PPV. At 42 years of age, a boxing all time great, Manny "Pac-Man" Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KOs) looks to challenge himself once more when he challenges welterweight kingpin, Errol Spence Jr., for the IBF/WBC crown. Manny Pacquiao has been inactive since his impressive win over Keith "One Time" Thurman in July of 2019. That fight saw Pacquiao snatch the WBA "Super" Welterweight Title off Keith Thurman to become the oldest welterweight world champion in history. On August 21st, Pacquiao will once again dare to be great by challenging a fighter who many consider to be the best 147 pounder in the world.


Errol Spence Jr. sustained serious injuries when he wrecked his Ferrari in October of 2019. But the Dallas fighter made a strong comeback when he outpointed former world champion, Danny Garcia, to defend his IBF/WBC titles on December 2020. Now his sights are set on a fight he openly called for in the aftermath of his Danny Garcia victory. After defeating Garcia, Pacquiao entered the ring and him and Spence had a respectful exchange. Little did fans know that the two men would eventually agree to face off in a unification world welterweight match-up.


Pacquiao vs. Spence Jr. is arguably the biggest fight of the year. Both men are heralded as being great for different reasons. Pacquiao is boxing's only eight division world champion who is still competing at an elite level in the twilight years of his career. Spence Jr. is currently in his prime and holds two major world titles; the IBF and WBC titles. The legendary Manny Pacquiao has certainly earned the right to face any of opponent of his choosing. The fact that he chose Spence as his next opponent speaks volumes of the type of fighter he is.


This fight is full of intrigue. Manny Pacquiao has proven to still be a draw at 42 years of age. But can Pacquiao still pull the trigger against at elite opponent? He certainly proved that he could against the younger, bigger, and stronger Keith Thurman in 2019. But two years have passed since that fateful night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Father Time has proven to be undefeated, but can Pacquiao hold him off just one last time?

Errol Spence Jr. has become a star at 147 pounds. The promotional machine behind him known as Premier Boxing Champions, has elevated him to PPV status. But it's not just the promotional push behind him, it's the fact that every time Spence fights, he delivers. He's racked up a clean, undefeated record of 27 victories, zero losses, and 21 knockouts. His list of victories include notable names such as Shawn Porter, Danny Garcia, and Mikey Garcia to name a few. With each challenge put in front of him, Spence has been able to conquer.


The upcoming fight between Manny Pacquiao and Errol Spence Jr. will have higher implications than simply being another fight. It's historical in nature and one that fans will not want to miss It'll be an all time great of boxing's previous era taking on one of the best fighter's today's generation has to offer.
