Pacquiao Still Daring to be Great

Manny Pacquiao (67-7-2, 39 KOs) is an all time great, a future hall of famer, and for some, the greatest to ever do it. This August 21st he will face off against the unified WBC, IBF World Champion Errol Spence Jr. (27-0, 21 KOs). At 42 years of age, Manny Pacquiao is an aging fighter. He is still young, but in the boxing world he is considered an older fighter. But Pacquiao's recent fight announcement is only indicative of the type of fighter he is. He is still daring to be great.

Manny Pacquiao has had an illustrious career. In 2008 he was already considered a future hall of famer. But things didn't end in 2008. In the thirteen years since then, he's accomplished a lot more. His legacy has only grown. He's captured world titles in eight separate weight divisions and has held titles in four separate decades; 90's, 00's, 10's, and 20's. Manny Pacquiao continues to fight. In 2019 he defeated a prime, undefeated world champion in Keith Thurman. Pacquiao was 40. Errol Spence presents a different challenge, but you'd crazy to be against the living legend.

Will Manny Pacquiao be able to turn back the clock one more time? Will his greatness be on display when the FOX/PBC PPV hits our airwaves this August? Only time will tell but betting against Pacquiao will only serve to fuel the Filipino's drive to win. Watch his earlier fights and compare them to his most recent performances. You'll see a fighter that has developed into a crafty veteran, but in them you will still see the hungry fighter of old. Hitting his head to taunt his opponent to come at him. In some ways, Pacquiao hasn't changed. He's still that fighter seeking greatness for his family and country.

This August will give boxing fans a true boxing match. If you're a boxing fan you won't want to miss it. He doesn't have the same speed or explosiveness as yesteryear, but he's an experienced veteran whose combination of speed, power, and experience has given him the tools to deal with younger fighters in his twilight.

Some have said that if Pacquiao is able to conquer Spence this August, some historians will consider him to be the greatest fighter of all time. That's what makes this fight so meaningful. It's not just another fight. It's historical in nature. The legend of Manny Pacquiao will dare to be great against an elite welterweight in Errol Spence Jr. Pacquiao could suffer a defeat and hopefully it's not brutal in nature. Or he could win and catapult himself into an even greater stratosphere of greatness. The hype begins now; Pacquiao vs. Spence for the Unified Welterweight Crown.
